“Future Shock: How to see the opportunities beside the dangers”

Keynote with Nikola Danaylov

This keynote will address the current state of “Future Shock” that we are all experiencing at one level or another: be it individually – as citizens and professionals, or collectively – as organizations, corporations, nations and even as a civilization. It will lay out the full horizon of future possibilities while highlighting both the unique opportunities and the grave dangers we are facing. It will break down exponential technologies such as AI, genetics, robotics, nanotech, synthetic biology, the blockchain, etc. and how those test the very meaning of being human. It will challenge, scare, and inspire you to start your own “Conversation with the Future” and hopefully give birth to your own ideas. It will finish by sharing ancient and modern strategies for building resilience, embracing change and enhancing adaptation in every facet of your life so that you can ride the tsunami of change coming our way, rather than get drowned in it.

“Learning to Ride the Wave of Change”

Moderator: Nikola Danaylov (aka “Socrates”)
Panelists: Julie Danaylov, Elisa Kovacic, Samantha McDonald

Following the keynote presentation, the expert panel will focus on helping the attendees learn how to ride the wave of change rather than be drowned by it. Specifically, our panelists will share their professional experience and provide practical tips on how they have adapted to on-going change in the circus industry by, for example, creating hybrid and digital performances, expanding the spectrum of entertainment services, identifying new business development opportunities and so on. The aim of this panel is to supplement the big picture of on-going global change, as presented during Nikola Danaylov’s keynote, with palatable take-aways and actionable tips that anyone present can adopt and implement to the benefit of their own careers and businesses.

Filmmaking And How It Applies To Your Circus Career

with Francisco Cruz

This course is designed for circus artists to help develop your voice, creativity, intention, and a new understanding of filmmaking and how it applies to your circus career.  Participants will be introduced to specific film insights that Francisco has utilized from his 30 years of experience on stage as a circus performer to transitioning behind the lens and what it means to capture an artist on film. Currently an Associate Artistic Director and resident filmmaker at The 7 Fingers, he was also Head of Casting for over 10 years.  Francisco will dissect various aspects of these roles and how filmmaking today has a direct impact on the casting process of today’s market.  He will also walk you through both his filming techniques and editing process and the one reason he picked up a camera in the first place and continues to do so daily!
