Welcome to Circus, at the Edge of the World!

Four, three, two, one... GO!

St. John's International Circus Festival's fourth edition has kicked off! Acrobats, aerialists, and other circus enthusiasts have invaded the city and infused our streets with their unique energy. Artists, producers, creators, and panelists have

flown from New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and Europe to make this edition a memorable one. For those who can't make it to Newfoundland and are reading these lines from the comfort of their home, the TD Digital Big Top will be your gateway into the magic. Special thanks to TD for making this platform possible and allowing you to enjoy the festival as if you were here.

Edinburgh's International Festival's director, mister Paul Gudjin, opened the 2021 program with a breakfast talk on the making of a festival at the Emera Innovation Exchange . Given that "the Fringe" is one of the best-known festivals worldwide, getting to hear the tips and tricks from the man behind it was a privilege for our attendees. Moving on from breakfast to lunch, Mr. Gudjin will carry on with an impassioned keynote speech on the joy of a festival at the Alt hotel.

In an effort to share as much knowledge as passion when it comes to the circus arts, three inspiring panelists will discuss make-up design, lighting design, and casting at our very first Deep Dives event from 3pm, also at the Alt.

Lastly, the festival would not be what it is without cheers, a bit of glamour, and a few glasses, which is why a little “Soirée” with En Piste (the national circus arts alliance) will close this first day.

Come back tomorrow for the day's highlights, most memorable quotes, and, if you haven't, get your ticket for “A night at the circus” which will take place at The Rooms, tomorrow, 8 pm. To our followers in London, Manitoba, New York, or Sydney, be sure to look at the festival's online content as many events, such as the panels and keynote speeches are available for streaming.
